A Guide to Journey to Success

Students on Campus

Freshman & Sophomore Timeline

  • Custom Roadmap for Individuals Accomplishment: Helps students identify and navigate their interests and passion through Personality, Intelligence, Learning & Productivity and Skills assessment tests while exploring extensive areas before defining a major, and introducing to newly developed majors and activities to build their portfolio.

  • Guidance in 1-on-1 Mentorship: Motivates students through timely, expert guidance. Offers targeted individual consultations, building confidence that they can achieve, and boosting their belief in their own ability.

  • Personalized Tutoring Program: Link-n-Learn helps students boost their GPA and to prioritize their academic assignments by developing a better studying habits. Students also learn how best to use summer/winter/holiday breaks.

  • Choosing the Right Classes: Academic advising to help students develop a plan to choose the right classes, such as honors and AP classes, how to focus in their field of studies/interests.

  • Begin Developing a Unique Profile: Students can begin participating in Summer/Online/University level classes to explore their interests and passions. Students find the best extracurricular activities for their individual needs, which aids in applying to internships, camps and summer research programs. Coaching for interviews and essays optimized outcomes internship applications.

  • Read, Read, Read!: Encourages students to read (online books, inspirational books, self-motivating books, non-fictional or fictional, etc- of students choice/interest) to better prepare GPA, to help find out their passion and to prepare for college reading lists.

  • Standardized Testing Portfolio: Gives advising on academic choices and tests, Helps students find and prepare for related competition opportunities, and teaches students how to create an engaging “hook” within a cohesive application.

After two months of consulting work, any payment, full or installment is not refundable. Within two months of the consultation period, the refund will be calculated based on the number of hours of consultation, including the time spent reviewing, revising, editing, and consulting parents online and by telecommunication.  The hourly rate is 300 US dollars. There won't be any exemptions.

Junior Timeline

  • Reviewing Common App: To map out what students need in order to craft an excellent Common App.

  • College Researching and Narrowing Down School Lists (Summer to December): To create a list (Reach, Possible, Likely, and Safety) of schools that accommodates students needs, to help show admissions data and students profile to evaluate their chances for each university through our Specialized Software Program, and to report students with the best and most accurate admissions information available every year by  continuous research and updating on current trends.

  • Junior Year Summer Planning (December to March): To find new opportunities (internship, research, work and summer programs) with applications and essays focusing on individuals field of study and interests.

  • Summer Programs (June to August): To participate in customized interdisciplinary summer programs offered by Journey to Success to enhance the student's knowledge and experience in their field of study and interests (e.g. research papers, university-level lectures at participating universities).

  • College Visits (Spring and Summer Break): To help students figure out their preference when choosing the right college; to have better knowledge of the campus/area, special features, criteria, and dynamics.

  • Extracurricular Profile Positioning (Throughout Junior Year): To continue developing strong extracurricular activities to make a cohesive application so admissions will understand students better.

  • Efficient Test Prep with Link-n-Learn (Throughout Junior Year): To complete all standardized tests (SAT, SAT II, ACT and AP).

  • Junior Packet- Counselor Recommendation Letter Draft (January to September): To brainstorm and complete a cohesive application by submitting a personal narrative (including students passion, interests, strengths, and shortcomings, plus parents' input), and to teach students to focus on their strengths in the Junior Packet/Counselor Packet

  • Senior Year Academic Advising (March to September): To help students choose classes to maximize their chances (including AP classes related to students focused field of studies and applied major(s)).

  • Military Academy Follow up (Throughout Junior & Senior year): To assist students in creating a nomination packet (by submitting SAT/ACT scores and extensive essays) to receive and send a nomination letter for submission, and to apply for special military summer programs.

  • Securing Recommendation Letters with Follow Ups (March to September): To strategically prepare and choose teachers (including university professors for qualified students who participated in summer programs). Guided email correspondence ensures through email contents requesting for the best recommendation letters with follow ups.

  • Building and Writing a Strong Resume: To instruct students in drafting cover letters and resumes based on their focused majors for summer internships and college applications.

  • Visualizing Individuals Talents (Summer to Fall): To make sure each student's goals are well clarified, ensuring that the student has a firm grasp on their own strengths and personality. This will boost effective communication with the admissions officers, maximizing the student's chances.

Senior Timeline

(Senior College Application Package with Personalized Software)

Our comprehensive College Application Packages cover everything from the second semester of Junior year until graduation (Senior year summer to following May). The senior application process will begin during the summer and will last through Regular Admission, with fully personalized individual schedules according to the student's readiness.

Within two months of the consultation period, the refund will be calculated based on the number of hours of consultation, including the time spent reviewing, revising, editing, and consulting parents online and by telecommunication.  The hourly rate is 300 US dollars. There won't be any exemptions.

  • Selecting the Right Schools & Major to Maximize Career Potential (Starting Summer to December): A tailored College List, including an individual Positioning Strategy for applying. Research sessions to find the best-fitting schools in Reach, Possible, Likely and Safety: Strategic Positioning College Selection, preparing for EA, ED I, ED II, and RD and to introduce recently developed majors offered by universities.

  • 3 Dimensional Essay Writing and Multiple Essay Editing for Maximum Results (Starting Summer to January): Topic brainstorming to formulate a story that highlights the applicant’s strengths, instruction in writing a Personal Narrative Essay that will connect with readers, help in identifying/managing applicants’ shortcomings to let their strengths shine, guidance in crafting Personal Statements and Additional Writing, editing students essays to connect and transition into an in-depth perspective writing; instruction in constructing sophisticated and layered Supplemental Essays.

  • Advice in How to Showcase Extracurricular Activities (Throughout Senior Year): Advice in how to present Visual/Media Aid (through websites, url links, and video production) to highlight student's activities. Participation in customized interdisciplinary summer/winter programs offered by Journey to Success to enhance students' knowledge and experience in their field of study and interests (e.g. research papers, university-level lectures at participating universities).

  • Scholarships, Honors and Special Programs (September to December): Preparing for Merit Scholarships, Honors Colleges, guaranteed medical school programs, combined medical/nursing/pharmacy/vet school, business school, law school and special programs for art & music.

  • Organizing Extensive Colleges and Admissions Information and Deadlines Through Specialized Software Program (Throughout Senior Year): Specialized software program helps set and track reminders and deadlines (including online sessions, essays, college applications, and an individual to-do list) to save time and effort without stress, and to assist students in prioritizing commitments and assignments according to their deadlines and importance.

  • Completing and Submitting College Applications (October to February): Checking for, and completing, any additional college requirements, helping send all required test scores (SAT, SAT II, ACT and AP), ensuring timely and accurate application submission, college interview guidance and preparation, completing resumes and cover letters (for maximized chances) and submitting self report transcript.

  • Managing Status Checking email and Promptly Following up with Colleges on Missing Information after Submitting Application (December to February): Ensuring to follow up with individual universities by creating an account to provide any missing materials required by the school.

  • Post-Acceptance Decisions (December to May): Helping each student choose the right college that best fit their field of studies/interests out of all the acceptances.
